Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop, and I'm a cardiologist. Today, I'd like to talk briefly about how we try and keep you in normal rhythm if you have atrial fibrillation.

Well, most importantly, if we can find a trigger, we remove that. If it's stress, we try and deal with it. If you're overweight, we want you to lose weight. If you're drinking too much alcohol, you need to drink less alcohol. If your blood pressure is high, we've got to treat the blood pressure. These are simple things to do, but we also have medications that help. Sometimes our beta-blockers, our calcium channel-blockers are a great first line because they can also lower blood pressure as well. Flecainide is a really good agent for controlling atrial fibrillation in normal structured hearts. Sometimes we even use an agent called amiodarone. We also use an agent called sotalol a sort of beta-blocker with an extra class action. Sometimes we do special oblative techniques called EP ablation, but that's a story for another occasion.

Anyway, I've done a podcast. Below is the link if you were interested. There's more information there. In the meantime, don't get out of rhythm. Look after ourselves and please don't die from a heart attack. Goodbye.
