Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today's Minute is about what might cause cardiac failure. We'll probably one of the most important causes is high blood pressure. One of the next most common causes is lack of blood flow to the heart. Maybe a previous heart attack. We know that the valves can be implicated as well. We know that toxins or drugs, particularly chemotherapeutic drugs, but also alcohol and some other toxins could potentially cause problems to the heart and precipitate heart failure. It's a really complicated condition. There are lots of things that may end up worsening heart function or leading to cardiac failure.

I've put a podcast together on the very topic. It's pretty lengthy and fairly detailed. So if you're after some detail, please click on the link below and have a listen. In the meantime, look after your blood pressure, that's one of the best things you can do to reduce the risk of future cardiac failure for yourself.

Also, go and get your cholesterol checked and have a heart check with your local doctor. For now, I'm going to say goodbye. I'm going to wish you the very best and take care.
