Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and I'm a cardiologist. Welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. A couple of quick words on testosterone supplementation or physiological dosing for men.

There's been a lot of chatter around where testosterone fits. As we know, testosterone levels drop for men once they're through their mid 20s and it gradually declines over time. There has been concerns raised that supplementation with testosterone could increase risk of heart attack and increased risk of prostate cancer. Well, some of the data I've read would accept that that is the case, but also make note that overall outcomes are probably not detrimentally affected by the use of supplemental testosterone to physiological. That levels that the body's used to or should be able to accommodate, not off the scale sort of replacement. There's a bit of suggestion that testosterone supplementation at these normal physiological or natural levels could avoid frailty and keep muscular strength, improving quality of life.

Well, it's a situation that you would discuss with your local doctor and perhaps even a specialist. I'm certainly not going to guide you there, but I have done a podcast on the very topic. If you're interested, please check out the link below or the link attached to this video and have a listen to it, because it is interesting. For now, however, I'm going to wish you the very best until next time. Goodbye.
