We often don't stop to think about anesthetists, who are the people who allow surgery to happen. In the good old days, we used to bite on a pencil or get some ether. Fortunately, we've progressed since then. There's a lot of ways that anesthetists look after us when we go under the knife.

It's really important to understand the role that they play because surgery, and in particular, the safety of surgery that we've become used to just wouldn't exist without their fantastic skillset.

I've had the chance to speak with Dr. Sandy Zalstein, who's a colleague who I admire in the space of anesthesia.

He's sharing some of his thoughts and we're discussing some of these issues on a podcast. The link to which is attached to this video. So, check it out. I'm sure you'll find it interesting.
